What good socialization looks like
- Short, planned exposures to new floors, umbrellas, strollers, hats and delivery trucks.
- Letting the puppy watch from a distance and choose to approach, never forcing contact.
- Meeting a few calm, vaccinated adult dogs that a trusted friend owns.
- Pairing each new thing with a treat so it predicts good news.
- Stopping early when the puppy shows worry, such as tucking the tail or freezing.

Good questions
Before you begin.
Is socialization the same as letting a puppy meet every dog?
No. Rushed or rough meetings can teach fear. Calm, controlled introductions are far better.
When is it safe to go out?
That is a question for your veterinarian, who knows your puppy's vaccine schedule. Until then, plenty of work can happen at home and in your car.
What if my puppy seems scared?
Increase the distance, lower the intensity and give the puppy time. A trainer can show you how to pace it.
Does thunder and fireworks training fit here?
Yes. Soft recorded sounds at low volume, paired with food, are a common way to build calm around noise.
